“A girl with an Arab name like yours would never be elected to anything in this City.” While I know my dad, who immigrated from Tunisia, spoke from his own experiences and pain, his words crushed me. Being elected as an at-large city councilor was one of my Uncornered moments. I know he’d be my biggest cheerleader in this work.
