I don’t know what was smaller, the room or the hope I had for my future. There I was, this hotshot kid from MIT ready to take on the world and my career was about to be over before it began. Someone else had the power to torpedo my work and seemed ready to use it. I imagined the worst and felt like there was no one to call on. But a colleague stepped up and helped me see a way to move forward. He helped me understand that I actually had power and I could think of things differently. And so I did, and when everything blew up, after all the fireworks, I was still standing. I am not sure that he ever realized how much he changed the course of my life. Those brave words of advice Uncornered me.
